OWH,

By the way, I have to make a comment. We moved to OneWorldHosting back in May from another vendor. I have never been sorry for that decision. OWH has simply been the most reliable and responsive host I've ever seen. Response to my technical questions has always been exceptionally good. Thanks for the follow up.

Domain Names Registrar Instructions

To "point" a domain name to our servers the domain name record must be modified to show the new DNS or Domain Name Servers (whether they are ours or your own virtual name servers). Start by determining where the domain name was originally registered by checking the Internic Whois database:

http://internic.net/whois.html

Check your domain name record for the name of the Registrar. Nearly every major registrar now assigns each domain name a username or number and password when you purchase it, and you'll need that information to make any updates.

Each registrar has a slightly different procedure for modifying your DNS. The links below are to the top 5 registrars: If your registrar is not on this list, check out their site and look for a "Manage My Domain" or "My Account" link. Each registrar has a "Can't remember your password" link or process if that information is unavailable.

If your domain name information is current, then modifying the DNS information should be a matter of a few simple steps. You'll be prompted for the new DNS information in a screen like this one:

The IP address(es) may not be required. Once you enter the new information, the registrar will send an email to you to confirm the change. This is a critical issue - the email address will be the administrative contact address on file for the domain name. If you can no longer use this address, then the process gets more complicated. Each registrar has a separate process for updating your contact information as well - you may be required to fax identification or follow other verification procedures. Contact your registrar for further details.
